Concrete Overlays

A cement-based concrete overlay for either exterior or interior surfaces which contain unique polymers that provide exceptional adhesion to your existing concrete surface and has the flexibility for long-lasting wear. Overlays can be sprayed, troweled or squeegeed with an almost unlimited number of textures and designs, and are excellent for restoration, repair or solely decorative purposes. There are a multitude of stain colors that can be applied to the overlays to match pre-existing work or you can create your own unique combinations.

Designs

We use stencils, stamps and fiber tape to create your personal design and a is a great way to create a true piece of art that is also completely functional From basic designs such as flagstone, tile and wood, we can also create almost any desing you can dream up including personal logos.

Original Floor Surface

Any existing floor surface must be removed.

Removal of Floor

Wood, linoleum and tile floor material must be scraped up.

Grinding of Floor

Once flooring is removed, the concrete surface will be ground to smooth out surface and enhance adhesion of overlay or epoxy material.

Stamped Border

Can add a stamped overlay border if desired.

Base Overlay

A dark base overlay may be applied if doing faux grout lines or to cover tile lines to stop "ghositng."

Custom Design

Any designs can be applied on the base overlay.

Stained Overlay

Once completed, there are many colors or color combinations that can be applied.

Preparation

Back porch before work begins.

Cleaning

The porch is power washed with 4200 lbs of pressure. Then an acid wash (safe for plants) is applied to "rough up" the concrete for better adhesion.

Primer

A clear colored primer is applied and allowed to dry.

Design

After the stamped edge is completed, a flagstone design is done using fiber tape. You can apply a dark colored base coat for grout line if needed. In this case one was not applied.

Applying Overlay

The concrete overlay material is applied over the taped design.

Pulling the tape

After a few hours of drying, the tape is pulled. It must be pulled before the overlay is completely dried, or it becomes very difficult to do. If you have a taped design, it is almost magical to watch the overlay become your design.
